Applying to college is a huge decision, and can be a stressful process. You and your family deserve someone to walk you through the application process step-by-step. Someone who cares not only about the results but also about making you feel confident and excited about this journey.

While serving as a volunteer interviewer for Dartmouth College, we looked for applicants displaying intellectual curiosity, leadership, and passion, which the most promising students demonstrate throughout their entire application. These qualities aren't to be found in test scores, which is why the SATs are becoming optional at many universities, and obsolete in the entire UC system. That's why I'd like to teach you how to tailor your application to show your target schools that you have the qualities they're seeking, and that you would be a perfect fit with their campus culture.

... After all, every student needs unique guidance, and every college has different qualities they look for. Unfortunately, tutoring agencies and high schools are unable to offer such individualized help from counselors who have been to top schools, which is why I believe you'll benefit from a private tutor.

A Note On Essays:

Because all students learn differently, and high school teachers are spread thin, 90% of students I work with don't know how to write a mind-blowing essay. Even LA private school kids who aced their SATs and have a 4.0 GPA. And "mind-blowing" really is what your essay needs to be, which is a lot to ask of anyone, let alone a 17-year-old.

What's more, the students who do know how to write mind-blowing essays still don't know how to delve deeply into their inner emotional lives to offer compelling insights into who they are, which is what these essays are really about. Much less present all that information in the form of a visceral short story, tapping into their artistic voice.

 

So... all of this to say... together we can take your essays to the next level. After as few as 2 sessions with me, I have had kids who aced their AP English tests tell me, "I finally feel like I know how to write." And it would make me so proud to be able to do that for you too.
