That's why I love being a tutor.

My teaching philosophy is rooted in the latest research in talent development and motivation--from Carol Dweck, whose book Mindset revolutionized the education industry, to the simple practice of motivational interviewing.

While I primarily tutor English, writing, and general schoolwork, I have also helped students medal in the science fair, make a short film, outline a novel, become a poet and present their poem in front of 200 others, etc... In fact, nothing is more exciting than sharing my love for creativity.

I now have hired tutors who specialize in SAT/ACT prep, Chinese, Spanish, intermediate French, and math and science through the college level.

Areas in which I work:

- LA -- Beverly Hills, Brentwood, Bel Air, Westwood, Pacific Palisades, Sherman Oaks, Encino, Van Nuys, Studio City and many more!

- Online tutoring is also available at a 10% discount! Email me for more information (IvyGuideTutoring@gmail.com)

I look forward to working with you!

Humanities Tutoring: Text

When I started working with this eighth-grader--let's call him John--he was struggling with ADHD, hated schoolwork, and was prepared to flunk English and social studies. His parents were tearing their hair out. They knew he was being bullied at school, but couldn't connect with him, which made getting him to do homework a total nightmare.

But I engaged with John about what his interests were and showed him how his schoolwork fits into the greater picture of his life. A greater picture he hadn't thought about before. Before long, he could write for a full hour and began getting "A"s instead of "C"s.

His mom texted me this...

I have worked with Troup for over two years and I have found him to be dependable and professional.  Students respond to Troup because he’s a friendly, engaging and a great listener. I can’t recommend him enough!
